Palm Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday before Easter and marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Jesus’ earthly ministry leading to His crucifixion and resurrection. The day recalls the event when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 that the Messiah would come “righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey”. This act symbolized humility and peace, contrasting with the expectations of a political or military king.
